And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God. – Romans 8:28
There are times as Christians when we suffer a severe loss, and we wonder how any good can come out of the situation. This is especially true if the loss is that of a beloved spouse or child.
It has been almost seven years now since the Lord called my husband home to Heaven. At first after my personal loss, that question would come to my mind—what good could come of this? Now, seven years later, I can finally see how good came out of my time of terrible grief and loss.
When I found myself alone and had to cope with things that I never had to do before, I would call upon the Lord, and He helped me to conquer those situations. As the years have gone by, I have called on God to help me many times, and as a consequence, this has brought me much closer to Him. I have learned not to lean on my own understanding, but to go to the Lord for wisdom. Being alone has forced me to do a lot more praying than I had ever done before. As a result of my own personal loss, I believe my faith has been increased, because the Lord has been there for me and helped me in so many ways.
Have you experienced a personal loss? Give your grief to the Lord, and let Him use this loss to strengthen your relationship with Him. When new challenges confront you, take them to the Lord, and as you rely on Him, you will learn just how faithful He is. The Bible says that the Lord gives beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning. Nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, but the Lord can fill that loss with a different blessing. He can bring a good outcome from any circumstance.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for being faithful to Your children when we call upon You in times of trial. We know that all things do work for good to those that love You. Amen.
