And him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. – John 6:37
In a recent conversation with her sister, my wife found out about a special bargain relating to a set of Noritake china. My wife was ecstatic, and as her birthday was approaching, the china seemed to keep coming up in conversation. I did not think she was trying to hide the fact that she would have liked a set of new Noritake dishes.
She actually was surprised when I came home with the new set of china. After we had unpacked and put it all out on the table, we discovered that the serving platter was missing. This presented a real dilemma. We surely did not want to repack all of the china and take it back to the store. Furthermore, they might not believe us! These concerns and a few others crossed our minds as we thought about our situation. Eventually we decided to start simple. We would leave the china sitting on the table, and I would take the sales slip to the store and explain our situation.
When I arrived at the store, I approached the Customer Service counter with a little trepidation and explained my problem to the lady there. She simply said, “Go back to the china display and bring a set up to us,” and I did. She took the serving platter out of the carton and told me to go home and enjoy our new china. I told her that she had given a very simple solution to a seemingly big problem. “We want you to come back to our store again,” was her reply. You can be sure I am going to write the manager and tell him how pleased I am with his customer service! When I came home and placed the platter beside the other china, my wife also became a believer in the store’s customer service policy.
How much this incident is like our Lord Jesus. Those who come to God through Him will always find that He is more than reasonable concerning life’s problems. He will take time to listen, and He will have a solution to the situation. After all, He runs the greatest Customer Service Department in the whole world, and satisfaction is always guaranteed! Have you thanked him recently for His intervention in your life? He would love to have you keep coming back to His storehouse of love, mercy and grace.
