For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. – Jeremiah 31:34
A paper shredder is a convenient and safe way to dispose of private or sensitive information, such as old payroll stubs, bank statements, credit card bills, and personal correspondence. The first generation of shredders on the market were straight-cut shredders, and they sliced private documents into tiny ribbons. However, consumers were concerned that a determined individual might be able to take those shredded ribbons and put them together again. When the new crosscut shredders came on the market, they provided a definite step-up in performance. It would take a very persistent person to reassemble the small pieces that result from using this type of shredder! Still, there are fragments that could conceivably be reassembled.
Operating a shredder may be time-consuming and tedious, but in this day and age, many consider it a necessity. They don’t want their personal information to be available to anyone who happens to come across it—they want it to be totally eliminated.
Did you ever wish you could somehow replay your life and eliminate all the wrong doings, bad choices, and sins you have committed? Ever wish they could be not just shredded, but totally gone from God’s record books?
The good news is, that is possible! When a person is genuinely sorry for the sins he has committed, and asks God to forgive him, God not only forgives, but He also forgets those sins. Our focus verse promises that He will remember them no more. Those sinful thoughts, motives, and actions that weigh on your conscience are not simply “shredded,” they are gone, totally removed from God’s records.
Do you have something that needs to go through God’s removal program today? Just talk to Him about it. You’ll be glad you did!
