But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory. – Philippians 4:19
"What if you could have it all?” Those words caught my eye a few days ago, and I started to think about what “having it all” really means.
That question was, of course, referring to having everything in this world, including riches. I began to consider what it might be like to have everything that this world offers. No doubt such a person would have millions of dollars, large mansions to live in all around the world, a private Learjet to fly around in, and the nicest clothes that money can buy. The finest food available would be his to dine on, a chauffeur in a limousine would do the driving, and servants would do the work. Is the possession of all of those things really “having it all?” I think not!
If one had all of those things, what good would it do him once he is gone from this world? We can take nothing with us when we leave this life.
In contrast, God has created many wonderful things for us that do not cost money. The beautiful sunshine, flowers, trees and mountains, lakes, oceans, hills and valleys are all there for us to enjoy, free of charge.
Additionally, God has provided something that we can take with us when we leave this life. His wonderful love and salvation are available to everyone! He provided them for us through His Son, Jesus Christ, and this salvation requires no money to obtain. Jesus bought it for us with His shed Blood on the Cross of Calvary. The only cost is giving our hearts to God. It does not matter how much money we have, what we look like, or what position in life we hold. When we bring God a repentant heart and believe He forgives us, He gives us His salvation.
Once we have received that great gift, we are anxious to tell others about it. Who could you tell today about this great possession that is more than “having it all”?
