He hath made every thing beautiful in his time. – Ecclesiastes 3:11
Microwaves today have many quick, one-step functions. With just the push of a button, you can have corn popped, potatoes baked, or leftovers warmed up. The time and temperature has already been preset into the oven’s design. In our fast and hurried society, these added features are much appreciated. We do not have to think—just read and press. It seems that all new appliances released on the market have been fashioned with the customer’s busy lifestyle in mind. Anything that can make a task simpler is incorporated into these efficient creations. Manufacturers know that these conveniences are often what sell their products.
Most of us like fast, simplified gadgets. However, with these time-saving devices so readily accessible, we might tend to expect that everything in life should be available in one quick step.
When we come to the Lord for help with a certain need or situation, we may wish we could push a button and have our answer in seconds. We know God can do this, but His timing is not always a quick, one-step plan. There is a work He has for us to do, and we need to experience the victories and blessings God gives us in the waiting periods. We need to learn the value of earnest, fervent prayer.
In our world where fast and efficient conveniences are the majority, we must always remember that God has His own season for giving answers. Some answers will not be revealed immediately, while others will come before we can utter a word. The Lord will undertake and answer in His time, when the blessings will be the greatest and when His name will be glorified most.
We have good reason to rejoice! Truly, man has invented things to satisfy us for the moment, but God makes everything beautiful in His time to satisfy the heart forever.
