I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. – Psalm 18:1
The tiny gift shop decorated in pink hearts and satin roses was buzzing with activity. Like bees to honey, the majority of the early afternoon customers were clustered around the rows of Valentine sentiments. The day set aside to express love to those who are special to us was just around the corner. With my list in hand, I scanned the large selection of cards adorned with red hues and verses expressing love. I wanted to find the perfect words for those I care for.
As my assortment of cards began to grow, the thought came to me that I have never seen a Valentine’s Day card made especially for the Lord. I looked at the list of those I loved; His name was not there. Yet, He is “the love of my life,” my best Friend, and my Heavenly Father.
Collecting my Valentine’s Day cards, I headed toward the checkout area. While waiting in line, I pondered ways I could express my love to the One who had done so much for me. Even if a card filled with loving sentiments could reach Heaven, it could never begin to tell of the adoration and affection that wells up in my heart when I think of all the Lord means to me. However, I knew I could pray more, spend additional time reading His Word, and work harder at sharing His wondrous plan of salvation with those in need. This would be my Valentine to the Lord.
As we hand out Valentines to our special loved ones, let’s make sure we tell the Lord how much we love and appreciate Him also. Then think of additional ways to show Him how much He means to us. Because of His love to us in sending His only Son to die for our sins, we can be recipients of His love forever if we faithfully love and serve Him.
What Valentine will you give to the Lord today?
