One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. – Ephesians 4:6
It has been said that God without man is still God, but man without God is nothing. How true this is! God was, is, and always will be God.
As you drive through your city, you may see statues of various gods. These shrines have been built as different cultures of the world settled in the United States and brought their religions with them. Some shrines contain images that are elegantly sculpted and placed in beautifully arranged gardens. However, the statues cannot talk, listen, or help in any way to make one’s life better. Obviously, because they are man-made, they cannot offer eternal life or salvation of the soul. They may be called gods, but they have no life and no power.
The God of all gods, our Savior and Lord, is awesome! He is alive and lives in us if we are Christians and have been saved from sin. He is powerful, and stronger than anything on earth! He listens to our cries and sends His Holy Spirit when we need comfort or direction. He cares about everything we do and rejoices over us with fatherly pride when we serve Him and do His will. Our Heavenly Father, God of the universe, supplies every need we have and gives us the hope of a greater life to come. Right now He is preparing a place for us, His children, so that someday we can dwell in that wonderful City with beautiful mansions on streets of pure gold. Our God of all is also a healer and a miracle worker. Nothing is too hard or too big for Him! Is there any like Him?
Man may think a person is great because he holds numerous degrees or makes a lot of money. He may feel that being the president of a company or owning a million-dollar home brings great prestige. But without God, man is nothing, and a good job or a big paycheck is only as powerful as an idol carved from a tree.
Who are we serving today? The Lord who is alive and very real? Or a statue, cold and lifeless as stone? Pray to the Savior, the Lord God of all. He is the only God who brings satisfaction, salvation, love, and a hope of eternal life. All power is in His hands! There is nothing He cannot do!
