For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16
What a wonderful gift we received from God when He gave His only Son that we might have eternal life! The Christmas season is a time of happiness and rejoicing as we remember the great love of God to send us a Savior. However, now that Christmas and all the excitement have passed, some of us might be feeling a little let down. There is such a flurry of activity beforehand, and then it seems like the day after Christmas, it is all over. I have to admit, in past years the end of Christmas has left me feeling a little sad myself.
This year, I asked the Lord to help me not have that letdown feeling. Then a wonderful thought came to me: the excitement of Christmas began when Jesus was born; it did not end there. His birth has brought the hope of salvation to billions of people down through the centuries, and that is something to be thankful for year round! Although the festivities are over, family members have gone back home, and now we face the chore of packing away our decorations, the joy of Christmas never has to go away. His gift of salvation is always with us.
We were so blessed by God when He made it possible for everyone to be saved. Today, and even right now, somewhere in the world people may be hearing the Good News for the first time, or may even be receiving that gift of salvation in their hearts. There is no reason to feel letdown just because Christmas Day has passed, and there is every reason to be glad and rejoice, because Jesus’ birth was just the beginning of blessings to all mankind.
