How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace. – Isaiah 52:7
"The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah! Hurrah!” Perhaps you know the song that has words to that effect. This event has been true on too many occasions in my house! I never know where I will find ants—in the bathroom, in the kitchen, even crawling across a book I’m reading! After trying various methods of extermination, I’ve come to realize that there is no easy solution for getting rid of them.
Isn’t it interesting, though, how ants share with one another? If one comes across my kitchen counter, I’ve learned to immediately start looking around for sugary food, and if I find it, to quickly clean it up. If the lone little guy finds anything sweet, it won’t be long before he’s back with all his buddies!
It is also human nature to share good things with our friends. When we try a new product and like it, we tell others about it. If there is a restaurant we enjoy, we invite others to go there with us. Those around us usually know whether we are married, who our closest friends are, and what our parents and siblings are like, because we chat about them. Those are good things in our lives and we like to share them.
As we share all these wonderful blessings with others, do we also share our very best Friend? Do we talk about Him like we do our spouse, friends, or favorite restaurants? Do we invite people to His house to partake of His wonderful “food” with us?
The ants are not shy about sharing the good things they find. They know what all other ants want: food. So, when they find it, they spread the good news. We know what everyone wants in this life: peace. We have found it, so let’s not be shy—let’s tell a friend!
