Friday Evening Service

Prelude: Brian and Annika Ewers played a violin duet of “I Sing the Mighty Power of God,” and “Come, Christians Join to Sing.” Sarah and Susan Asaya then sang “In Christ Alone.”

Featured Testimonies: Julianne Luka said she felt that she drew closer to the Lord this week through Vacation Bible School, and was very excited when one of the kids in her group told her he got saved. LaDonna Monk told how the Lord saved her seven years ago, and recently led her to a job here in Portland, which she has been enjoying. Cheryl Downey was thankful for God’s help getting through airport security recently when they had challenges with her daughter’s ID. Azaria Charles remembered that last year at this time, a huge hurricane was going through the Caribbean, and she was thankful that God kept her family there safe. Matt Hanson expressed thanksgiving for contentment, peace, and the knowledge that he is ready for Heaven, which the Lord gave him when he was saved at age twenty-four.

First Special: The choir sang “He Is Able to Deliver Thee.”

Last Special: Kaye Montgomery sang “Through it All.”

Sermon: Tom Pricskett preached from 1 Thessalonians 5:18 and encouraged Christians to always have an attitude of thankfulness rather than a critical or fault-finding attitude.
