Philadelphia Prayer Retreat & Special Meetings
Prayer meetings were held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Monday, October 9, through Saturday, October 14. Various prayer requests were taken before the Lord, trusting that He would meet each need. The Spirit of God encouraged those who participated, and they drew strength from these times of collective prayer. One prayer request in particular was answered for successful surgery and the ability to resume driving.
Special services were held on Sunday, October 15. Olulana Alofe, the group leader in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, was the guest speaker on Sunday morning. The topic of his sermon was “We Are Keepers of Our Brethren,” and his text was taken from Genesis 4:9. He brought out that although Cain denied knowing where his brother was, it did not exonerate him from God’s judgment. Brother Olulana encouraged the congregation to make sure that their relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ foster unity. The altar service that followed was a time of heart searching and blessings from the Lord.
After lunch, the congregation observed the Lord’s Supper and Washing of the Disciples’ Feet, followed by a fellowship service attended by the nearby branch churches. Garfield Charles, from the Brooklyn Lafayette church, took his text from 1 Kings 17:14, emphasizing that God has an inexhaustible storehouse capable of fulfilling every need. He encouraged the congregation to trust God to fulfill His promises and answer their prayers.
There were many victorious testimonies representing the various church locations, and the special meetings were a time of glorious fellowship with those who attended from the Northeast regional branch churches.
