I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. – John 6:51
Two islands of salads and rivers of dressings, complete with spots of sun-ripened fruit sparkled before my eyes. I looked beyond the fields of green and observed massive seafood platters, crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and enchiladas. Further on, a counter filled with mouth-watering desserts beckoned. My friend and I had just stepped into a buffet paradise. Before us was all the food one wanted to eat with no restrictions. We grabbed our plates and started in. How wonderful everything tasted! We watched as pan after pan of food was brought out and then disappeared as hungry patrons scooped it up. There appeared to be an endless supply of everything.
In our walk with God, a heavenly buffet is always available to the spiritually hungry. When we look into God’s Word, we find measures of living bread and heavenly manna. When we are thirsty, we can partake of the living water and the sincere milk of the Word. What a feast is spread before us if we will only taste and see! The price has already been paid by Jesus’ precious Blood shed on Calvary. There is no limit to how much one eats. There are no restrictions on who can partake of God’s finest wheat. It is for the whosoever will!
Are you spiritually hungry today? Does your soul long for more of the living bread? Open your Bible and sample some of God’s rich delights! God’s table will never be empty and you can come and dine as often as you like. As you feast more and more on the Word of God, you will grow richer and more spiritually fit.
Sit down at the Lord’s heavenly banquet today and partake of the spiritual provisions that bring joy, satisfaction, and eternal life. You will grow richer in His love and be filled with a peace that no other meal is able to offer.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for the wonderful feast You have for us in Your Holy Word. Help us to feast daily at Your table and not starve our souls by eating and partaking of other things that do not bring joy. Thank You for the Living Water that is always available to refresh and heal our weary souls. We praise You for the promise of eternal life when we will be able to eat at Your buffet forever. Amen.
