A youth weekend was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, from June 2-4. Around fifty-five attended in person, while many others viewed on social media.
The Friday evening service began with the orchestra playing “My Life Is in You,” followed by the youth choir singing “Shout to the Lord.” The youth leader, John Adebayo, welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker, Martes Blanco, from the Bronx, New York. Elizabeth Adebayo led the congregation in singing the theme song, “Lay Up Treasures in Heaven.” Four branch church attendees testified of the power of God to save, keep, and deliver. Before the sermon, Rimitan Alofe sang “How Deep the Father’s Love.” Brother Martes took his text from Matthew 6:19-21, and encouraged the congregation to make it a spiritual priority to lay up treasures in Heaven, rather than focusing on the temporal things of this world.
The Saturday morning session was held at Houghton’s Pond Park in Milton, Massachusetts. After the opening prayer by Tayo Ajayi from Washington, D.C. and a time of meet-and-greet, the attendees were directed to various discussion groups. Each age group addressed relevant topics, using God’s Word to answer questions and concerns. The ultimate theme was laying up treasures in Heaven. A time of food and fellowship followed, including various games.
The Saturday evening and Sunday morning services were held at a rented facility in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Saturday evening began with a time of congregational singing led by Nathaniel Segres, the pastor in Atlanta, Georgia, and his wife, Sharon. During the testimony portion, each one who testified had the opportunity to pick a song. This was followed by an intercessory prayer time, during which prayer requests were given and the congregation lifted their hearts in prayer. Before the sermon, a youth group from Oceanside, New York, sang “Give Them All to Jesus.” Brother Martes read Acts 16:24-37 for his text. Using the example of Paul and Silas, he brought out that praising God in all circumstances will result in God’s blessings and deliverance.
Sunday school classes were offered for all ages. The Beginners class was taught by Yinka Alofe, while the Primary class was taught by Folubi Awobayiku, both from East Bridgewater. The combined youth and adult class was taught by Timothy Ajayi, from Oceanside.
The devotional service began with the orchestra playing “Nearer, Still Nearer.” Then the Oceanside youth choir sang “Turn Your Radio On.” Bobby Toure, from Brooklyn, New York, led the congregational singing, beginning with the hymn, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” A male quartet sang a medley of “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” and “Every Time I Feel the Spirit” before Kundai Kamutando read Philippians 3:14 for the Scripture reading. Prior to the sermon, a duet sang “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Brother Martes read Philippians 3:14 for his text, and preached on the “high calling” of God. He encouraged the congregation to place the call of God in their lives above everything else. Many responded to the altar call and sought God in prayer.
The congregation in East Bridgewater is thankful for all who came to support the youth weekend, and the prayer is that all who attended will diligently lay up treasures in Heaven as Jesus’ coming draws near.
