On the evening of Saturday, February 15, the youth group gathered for Youth Focus. Erik Calhoun first led in prayer over the food and time of fellowship that was to follow. The meal included baked ham and cheese sliders, homemade macaroni and cheese, an assortment of vegetables, and fruit punch. It was quite appetizing and very much enjoyed by all. Following dinner, dessert was served, which was a vanilla ice cream sundae topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Once the meal had concluded, it was time for a game. This game was led by Nikita Jones and involved hopping over a line a certain number of times at the commands of “yes” and “no.” It was a fun game and urged all to focus on their listening skills. Susan Asaya won the competition. After the game had ended, it was time for singing. Azaria Charles led in a selection of songs, including “No Condemnation in My Heart,” “You Are Holy (Prince of Peace),” and “10,000 Reasons.” Following that, prayer requests were taken and a prayer was said over the youth.

Sola Adesope gave the message, which included a PowerPoint presentation on how the young people could use social media as a method of outreach. He encouraged everyone to post things like Bible verses and excerpts from sermons and music specials. He called for the youth to think about how they might use social media in a positive way, a way that will put the spotlight on the only One who really deserves it: Jesus. Brother Sola expressed that he was eager to get this started and asked for volunteers to help come up with ideas for posts on the church’s own social media accounts. His message was a good reminder on ways to answer the call to “go ye therefore, and teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Brother Sola also urged the youth to spend at least ten minutes in prayer each day, seeking the Lord and asking Him to prepare their hearts. This challenge was in preparation for the upcoming Winter Tabernacle Meetings, but is a good practice for all times of the year.

Following the message, a wonderful time of prayer and seeking God took place. The whole evening was a good time of fellowship and worship, greatly enjoyed by all attendees.
